Cabinet Vision
Understanding how to manipulate Cabinet Vision's backend coding language known as "User Created Standards", or UCS for short, gives us the ability to optimize the software to meet specific project requirements, automate repetitive tasks, and create tailored solutions for unique manufacturing processes.
SolidWorks
Some cabinets can be too difficult to program in Cabinet Vision for a variety of reasons, mostly curved hoods and really intricate pieces. For those specific scenarios we use a program called SolidWorks to build dynamic objects that we can then import into Cabinet Vision so they can be see visually in our 3D renderings. This also allows us to program curved parts that can be cut flattened on a CNC.
ERP Solutions
Staying organized in the office and the shop can become more and more difficult as your operation grows in size and complexity. Using Microsoft Access we have the expertise to build a custom program to help you track projects, automate emailing, track employees, order materials and hardware, and much more.

Colby Ellis, Owner of Ellis Drafting and Design
I got my start originally working in a high-end residential cabinet shop in historic Williamsburg, Virginia. I started out sweeping the shop floor and quickly moved into the office to help with the drafting workload. Within 6 months I was the Lead Drafter and Engineer servicing a shop of around 20 employees.
I have experience in every area of drafting for production including initial proposal drawings for bidding, revising drawings from site measurements, communicating with clients and contractors and working their ideas into their drawings, engineering those drawings into g-code and creating cut lists and reports for your shop and assisting builders with the production process.
Since then I have moved on to offering drafting and engineering services for cabinet companies across the United States that need assistance with their production process. I primarily use Cabinet Vision but I have expertise with AutoCAD, AlphaCAM, SolidWorks, BlueBeam, and really any program that interfaces with the drafting and engineering process.
I love my job and I take extreme pride in everything that I do.
